Training & Networking
Throughout the year, MAPCS holds seminars and conferences
on a range of topics: Marketing, Student Retention, Admissions,
Staff Motivation, Teaching Techniques, and Financial aid.
These events usefully connect MAPCS school directors and personnel
with national trainers, local speakers and successful peers.
Most accrediting agencies recognize the value of such professional
development. The Association also works with Department of
Education officials for updates and announcements.
Publications
- The MAPCS e-newsletter includes announcements to inform
members of important business and career-school issues and
events and is published 3-4 times per year.
- The Associations annual
Directory of Career Training Schools showcases member institutions, listing
course offerings, costs, certification requirements and financial-aid availability.
The directory is widely marketed to secondary, business and vocational schools
in New England, as well as to legislators, libraries, state agencies and counseling
services.
- Information on every member is included on the MAPCS web
site, <www.mapcs.org>, with direct links to members'
websites, plus member sites are linked to the Associations.
E-mail links are also provided for potential students to
request additional information.
Advertising &
Services
- The Directory of Career Training Schools features
postage-paid reply cards that hundreds of potential students
use to request information on careers and on schools. Inquiries
for school or career information are forwarded to all members.
- MAPCS
works with the media regarding seminars, industry news and the Associations
annual Outstanding Student Achievement Awards.
- Upon joining, each school receives a MAPCS Membership
Certificate that shows a commitment to the benefits of involvement
in a professional association.
Annual Meeting
& Student Recognition
Every MAPCS school is invited to select one Outstanding Student
to be honored at our Annual Meeting. In the past, the meeting
has been held in the Great Hall of the Flags at the Massachusetts
State House in Boston. This event gives families and friends
a special opportunity to celebrate their students achievements.
Each winners biography is sent to newspapers and trade
publications, and it is published in the Directory of Career
Training Schools to illustrate the diverse, dedicated
students who populate our institutions.
