Corey Denise
Cambridge School of Culinary Arts

COREY DENISE, who resides in Winthrop, came to the CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL OF CULINARY ARTS after years of cooking at home while dreaming of someday cooking professionally. His love of cooking started as a child when his single mom worked two jobs and many a night. Corey and his little brother were often left to fend for themselves for dinner. Corey did well in cooking classes in high school and hoped to continue his culinary education upon graduation. Unfortunately, in 1991, Corey was severely beaten and his head injuries put his schooling on hold. Instead, he began a career as a house painter and excelled in this field for 15 years. Then in 1998, a second head injury due a car accident left Corey with short-term memory problems and it seemed school was again out of the question. However, in January 2003, 33-year-old Corey enrolled in the Professional Chef’s Program and despite his continued memory problems, through extra work and dedication, he overcame his disability. Corey graduated in January 2004 and is now working part-time at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts and continues to be an inspiration to all who know and work with him.
