Michelle Murray
Medical Professional Institute

At the age of 33, MICHELLE MURRAY, of Saugus, never thought she would change careers. She worked for the Mass. Commission for the Blind as an Administrative Assistant from 1994 to 2003, when she was laid off. She had worked for the same place for so long she didn’t know what to do. So she turned to the North Shore Career Center to assist her in finding a school that would lead her to a new career. Michelle decided to become a Medical Assistant at the MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL INSTITUTE. She always enjoyed helping others and had already been exposed to the human services aspect of the medical field. Michelle wanted to work in a doctor’s office to be able to take care of others hands-on. She was the perfect candidate as she was friendly, pleasant and willing to work hard. She excelled in the lab and did well in her coursework. She maintained her grades and was always present even though some days were more difficult than others. Michelle is a single mom whose son has cerebral palsy. After only two weeks of her externship at the Northern Essex Women’s Healthcare in North Reading, she was offered a position as a Medical Assistant. We are proud Michelle has achieved so much and believe that her perseverance will help her go far in life.
