Anyelis "Angie" Guzman
Lowell Academy Hairstyling Institute

When Angie Guzman from Methuen started school at the Lowell Academy Hairstyling Institute back in December 2000, she had already gone to school for Aesthetics and received her Aesthetician License for the state of Massachusetts. With assistance of a PELL Grant, Stafford loan, SEOG (Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant) and a Mass. state grant, Angie pursued her Cosmetology License while raising two small children under the age of 5, with her husband, while also working at a salon for Aesthetics. Even though this schedule meant time away from her husband and children, Angie continued her endeavor and during her schooling, she showed exceptional talent in all areas of her classes. She was not only a wonderful student, but she had a knack for new and refreshing ideas about hairstyles. While she excelled in her practical aspect of school, she also maintained a 94 G.P.A. in her theory classes. Angie graduated from the program in July 2001 and shortly after graduation, she received her Cosmetology License for the state of Massachusetts. She currently works in the Cosmetology industry at Bernabe Hair Designs in Methuen. We couldn't think of anyone else who is more deserving of the Outstanding Student Achievement Award as Angie.
