Susan Hopkins
FINE Mortuary College

Susan Hopkins is the fifth generation in her family who has gone into the funeral profession. Although she lives in Lawrence, MA., the family owned Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home is located in Salem, NH. Susan is the mother of three young children, ranging in age from twelve to three years old. However, when she started mortuary college, the youngest child was only one year old and separation for both was quite hard. The complications of getting three children ready for their day and making the long trip to the college was never apparent with Susan. She was always pleasant and had a winning smile for everyone. She was always willingly helpful to her fellow students who had difficulties with their studies even though they were often younger, and certainly less busy, than she. During the time that she was a student, she also worked part-time at the funeral home but continuously did excellent academic work at the college. The faculty at FINE Mortuary College voted to honor her for her outstanding academic achievement and her willing outreach to other students.
