Glenn Ward
RETS Technical Center

RETS Technical Center is pleased to select Glenn Ward, of Waltham, MA., as our Outstanding Student of the Year. From 1977-2001, Glenn was employed at the Raytheon Corporation. He started as a shipper/receiver, moved up to assembler and for 9 years was a millwright. Since he really enjoyed being a millwright, Glenn thought for sure that he would retire from Raytheon. Then, after 23 years of loyal service, he was laid off. At age 44 with a wife and two children, lots of expenses and a severely reduced income, Glenn decided to return to school to get an education in a career that would provide him with security and long-term opportunities. He decided on the field of RHVAC, and chose RETS, where he received aid in the form of federal and state loans. During his time at school, Glenn took on more responsibilities with his kids while his wife worked second shift. Glenn completed the RHVAC Service Technician program with perfect attendance and a grade average of A. He was the top in his class and often helped his classmates. Further, Glenn has a magnetic bulletin board at home where he and his son routinely displayed their graded class papers. He wanted to set an example for his children that working hard in school can unlock doors to a brighter future. The faculty at RETS Technical Center are sure that Glenn's persevering attitude will help him reach all his goals in life and looks forward to watching him succeed in his new career.
