Lesley Anderson
Barbizon School of Modeling
LESLEY ANDERSON is a 17-year-old
Bridgewater resident, a junior at Coyle Cassidy School in
Taunton and a graduate of the BARBIZON SCHOOL OF MODELING.
Lesley not only enjoyed the Modeling course she gained poise,
mobility, independence, cognitive development and increased
self-image. You see, Lesley had a brain hemorrhage just before
her 12th birthday and the surgery that allowed her live resulted
in a severe stroke. Doctors thought she would not survive.
She couldn't walk, move her left arm, read or even do math
problems. Prior to the stroke, Lesley was an active Girl Scout,
cheerleader, dancer on a competition team that won several
awards, a gymnast and an "A" student. She performed
in plays at school, in Community Theater and her group performed
on the BIG RED BOAT. Always the performer! The stroke changed
all that. Lesley had to live at Spaulding Rehab Hospital while
receiving therapy to learn how to walk again. Brain injuries
are permanent but healing happens with growth, therapy and
repetitive action. Lesley always wanted to be a model, so
she took it upon herself to get to the audition and was chosen
for admission. Lesley also went to I.M.T.A. in L.A. this year
and is active again in Girl Scouts, dancing, pursuing modeling
opportunities, taking adaptive driving lessons, teaching 1st
grade Sunday School and is planning her college course all
while continuing physical and occupational therapy in Boston.
We believe Lesley's drive and determination, even while struggling
with disability, will assist her in her dreams... including
Modeling.
