Richard Catenacci
Bay State School of Technology

RICHARD CATENACCI worked at Bird Machine Company in Walpole for 31 years. At the age of 55, he was informed that the company was closing down and that he would be out of a job. He wasn't sure what he would do, but he knew that he couldn't afford to retire and he didn't want to retire. He began looking around for new opportunities and considered possibilities for a new career. He spoke with career counselors at the Department of Employment and Training and learned he was eligible for training in a new field. He enrolled at the BAY STATE SCHOOL OF TECHNOLOGY and completed his program in Appliances, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning in November of 2004. He was one of the top students in his class, graduating with a 3.67 grade point average. He is now happily employed as a service technician at Petrini Management Corporation in Needham. He loves his job and said that he uses all of his training that he received at Bay State School of Technology. Mr. Catenacci is a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam war and resides in Medfield. He has two children and three grandchildren. He was glad that there was valuable training available to him when he needed a new career for continued employment.
