Willena Fields
RETS Technical Center

RETS Technical Center is pleased to select Willena Fields of Dorchester as Outstanding Student of the year. Willena, a 26 year-old mom is enrolled in the Medical Assistant program where she maintains an "A" average and perfect attendance. At first she thought it would be impossible to maintain an "A" average in all her classes for the twelve month program, while taking care of a home and child, but she's doing it! Willena's motivation is knowing she must be a role model for her daughter and needing something in her life that will be self gratifying. Willena thought about giving up on several occasions when faced with her daughter's health problems, but that only made her more determined. It was during those moments that she would think about the opportunities available to her and the benefits of attending a school like RETS. Willena says that she will always be indebted to her teacher, Ms. Price-Risbrook, who has been a great inspiration and mentor to her and helped her develop the character needed to be successful in the medical field. Willena has attained many goals in her life that she is proud of, but graduating as a Medical Assistant in August will be one for which she will be forever grateful. She believes that a person who achieves their dream is guaranteed happiness in their future. "It feels good knowing I will be one of those people." Willena was elated upon hearing that she was receiving an Outstanding Achievement award and is even more confident that she will reach her dream of becoming a Medical Lab Specialist in the future.
